First Day of Spring and New Life

Today at 7:44 in the morning, the exact center of the sun passed directly over the earth’s equator. This moment is known as the vernal equinox. It happens once every year and it marks the beginning of spring. Planting, seeding, blooming. The beginning of new life. And… in Costa Rica, that new life came five hours later in the form a baby boy.

Gavin Jordan Klein (Almost impossibly, our good friend Jordan Mills had all the facts down before they ever became facts. March 20th. Male. Blonde hair. Blue eyes. Hence the middle name!) was born early this afternoon, under a cool, blue mountain sky. The birth was comfortable and natural in the haven of our ‘borrowed’ home, and the delivery was made in a birthing pool. The experience was a dream. It was serene and surreal. We’re beyond words at the moment, but happy to report that he and his mamacita are healthy on all accounts. Gavin’s stats out of the gate are as follows:

1) Cool, calm, and collected 2) Blonde hair, eyebrows, and lashes 3) Male, with penis 4) Alert blue eyes 5) Pisces/Aries blend (I’m leaning towards pisces because of the water birth, but his middle-name-sake is an Aries, so it’s a toss-up really.) 6) Weighs in on the small side, at 2.5kg
