Spencer and I loved watching National Geographic, In the Womb DVD every few weeks during my first pregnancy. It was interesting to see what was going in inside of my growing belly at different stages. It definitely made it seem more real. This second time around, we have enjoyed watching it with Gavin and explaining to him that that was what was going on inside of Mama!! What a trip to think about it from the mind of a 2 year old.

Gurmukh’s Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga was given to me as a gift when I got pregnant the first time. I liked this prenatal yoga more than a Vinyasa or Hatha based yoga practice when I was pregnant and I loved being in Gurmukh’s presence, even if it was through a TV screen. The only thing was that it was a bit long for me. But because I loved the style of Kundalini Yoga while pregnant, I researched more and found

Anna Getty’s Pre and Postnatal Yoga  which has been my favorite pregnancy workout. It is also based on Kundalini Yoga and Yogi Bhajan’s teachings. I fell in love with Anna Getty, the music, the movements, the meditation at the end and I ended up doing it almost every day my whole first pregnancy. This DVD was as much what inspired me to go get certified to teach Kundalini Prenatal Yoga as was reading Gurmukh’s book (Bountiful, Beautiful, Blissful). And the bonus of buying this DVD is that you get a Postnatal DVD. It includes 9,  5-10 minute workouts for after the baby comes….one set to do each month.  I loved this, as well!

The Business of Being Born made by Ricki Lake is a great documentary to watch if you are wanting to have a natural birth at home, or use midwives at the hospital in a birthing center. I highly recommend watching this movie with your husband or boyfriend!
