Soy peligrosa

We had a soccer game against the teachers at school. I got “home” from school to get ready, and my mama tica (more like a college roommate) has the younger girls in town over and they were making pom poms and cutting up pineapple for the game. As soon as they saw me walking up, they started cheering in Spanish and shaking their pom poms! On my bedroom door, Dilia had cut out a picture from the newspaper of a soccer player, cut the head off and put a picture of my face on the body. I love this woman! Anna and I had borrowed soccer cleats and shin guards and had quite the outfit. We wrote “Estudiantes” on one arms and “Ganadores” (winners) on the other. I wrote “Peligroso” on my forehead which means dangerous. We arrived at the local soccer field, which is in the center of town with 10 local girls from the pueblo cheering and chanting for us! Apparently my soccer skills were really rusty and I couldn’t really do much but scream and try to “scare” the teachers. I actually scared one of the teachers from a scream. Really “peligroso,” I know.!
