Spring’s Arrival(S) Deserve a Celebration!

We celebrated the arrival of several Spring babies this weekend….Spencer, Gavin, Iris, and a shout out to a couple of you over in Hawaii… Feliz Cumpleanos!

The past couple of months have been wonderful. We’ve enjoyed lots of visiting family and friends, some came from as far as Spain! We are enjoying our daily ritual of sunsets spent at the beach…and it seems like that helps us measure Gavin’s age and count the milestones. A little less than a year ago when we came back here to Nosara after giving birth to Gavin in San Jose, he was a nestled up little mono sleeping away in someone’s arms…..we couldn’t keep him awake at the beach! Then he would just lay there on his back or tummy on a towel. A few months ago he began crawling and trying sand for the first time. There was that constant learning process of what can go in the mouth and what can’t…. I think he tried every shell on the beach. Now, we set him down on the sand and he goes into a little squat, tries to stand, realizes he’s not quite there, and so goes back to crawling and jets towards the water with no fear. He goes head first until a wave washes over him and he gets swooped up from an adult. His little buddy Iris who was born the day after him has been walking, or shall I say running for about 2 months now. Gavin just sits and watches in amazement. Wow. And then she runs up and gives him a hug and kiss. He just stares at this beautiful creature, wondering what is going on. It’s heaven watching them grow up together.

Gavin is taking to the Tico lifestyle and loves his rice and beans. He has a new friend Mari that we hired a couple months ago to help us out while we work. She comes to play with him and while he sleeps she makes him rice and beans…Gavin’s dad doesn’t mind that either:)… We love Mari and are soo grateful for her help!

On Friday night we celebrated Spencer’s birthday at a local hotel/bar. Suddenly, someone gets my attention to look at my son. Oh, don’t worry he just has french fries in both of his hands and coming out of his mouth. Oh, and now he’s going for the mayonaisse. This is the baby that eats (and loves) broccoli, spinach and mango with his rice and beans. He was in heaven.

On Saturday night Gavin and Iris had their first birthday luau. Although it seems like it was more for the adults than the kids. With all due respect for us mamas who gave birth. It isn’t called “BIRTHday” for no reason! I now want to give every mom a present on their kids’ birthday.

We are very grateful for the past year….Thank you for all the wonderful support and love. It truly takes a village to raise a child, and we are so blessed that we can take our home to every one of your villages and be taken care of. And for those of you here in Nosara…. a huge thank you for stepping up and being family to us Klein Kleins.
